Bloody Houthi escalation: Injuries in Najran as a result of a projectile hitting Saudi territory

Six Saudi citizens were injured, on Sunday, when a projectile fired by the Houthi group fell on a residential site in the Najran region in the south of the Kingdom, which also resulted in material damage that included three homes and three vehicles.

The Saudi Civil Defense explained, in a statement on the “X” platform, that its teams responded to the incident immediately after it occurred, in light of the escalation in the pace of attacks on the Saudi front during the last two weeks, which include daily targeting of airports and energy facilities by the Iranian-backed group.

In a related context, the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced the downing and crash of an “AH-6” reconnaissance helicopter belonging to the Ministry of National Guard in the Najran region, leading to the death of its crew, consisting of two officers.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed in a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency that the plane crash occurred as a result of a technical malfunction inside Saudi territory, refuting the claims of the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree regarding the group’s responsibility for shooting it down.

It is noteworthy that the Houthi attacks witnessed an unprecedented escalation last week, which included several strikes targeting Riyadh Airport, one of which on Saturday resulted in the killing of 13 people and the injury of hundreds of others, bringing the total death toll from attacks targeting Saudi airports since the beginning of this month to 20 people, amid the expansion of the scope of targeting within the Kingdom.
