Transatlantic escalation: Washington threatens European companies with a devastating response in response to Brussels' restrictions

The US Ambassador to the European Union, Andrew Puzder, warned in press statements published by the Financial Times on Sunday that European companies may face a “devastating” response from Washington if Brussels goes ahead with its plans to restrict American companies’ access to vital parts of the European market.

This American warning comes against the backdrop of a decision by the European Commission to allocate the bulk of satellite bands and frequencies allocated for communications services for mobile devices and equipment exclusively to European companies.

The European decision includes reducing the share available to American telecommunications companies, and comes within the framework of broader efforts adopted by Brussels to reduce dependence on major technology companies and enhance the competitiveness and position of local companies within the European bloc countries.
