Qatar Airways suspends its flights amid security tension in anticipation of developments in the situation

Qatar Airways announced the temporary suspension of its flights to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and the city of Dammam, in light of the security developments taking place in the Kingdom, and at the same time confirmed that it will follow developments in coordination with the relevant authorities, without specifying an exact date for the resumption of flights.

The company explained, through an update published in the “Travel Alerts” section on its website, that this decision was taken in light of the current situation, calling on travelers to check the status of their flights through its official website or its electronic application.

The Qatari national carrier confirmed that it will communicate directly with passengers whose flights were affected by this decision, and will publish updates through its official channels, stressing that the safety of passengers and crews remains its top priority.

This decision comes in conjunction with rapid security developments in the Kingdom, represented by the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, following an attack that occurred last Saturday and resulted, according to reports, in the death of 13 people and the injury of more than 300 others, in one of the bloodiest attacks that Saudi Arabia has witnessed in more than a decade.

In a related context, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced, on Monday evening, the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group towards the capital, Riyadh.

On the diplomatic level, US President Donald Trump had previously announced holding talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which dealt with the ongoing war with the Houthis, where Trump described the Ansar Allah group’s movements as “very bad.”
