Bill Gates sounds the alarm: Artificial intelligence paves the way for unprecedented cyber attacks

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, issued new warnings on Sunday about the growing risks of unregulated artificial intelligence, anticipating a surge in cyber attacks supported by this technology over the next year.

In an interview with ABC News, Gates explained that the risk of artificial intelligence getting out of absolute control remains unlikely in the near term and will take years, stressing that the most pressing concern is the misuse of current systems by malicious parties who intend to disable all controls and protection measures built into them.

Gates stressed that the convergence of bad intentions with the latest models of artificial intelligence and the absence of security guarantees will represent the most influential and dangerous aspect in the near future, warning of facing “many negative surprises” in the cybersecurity sector during the coming year.
