A new Chinese success: the launch of the twenty-seventh batch of low-orbit Internet satellites

Beijing – Agencies:

China successfully launched the 27th batch of low-orbit Internet satellites this Saturday morning at 03:27 Beijing time.

The launch took place using a new Long March-12 carrier rocket from a commercial spacecraft launch site in Hainan Province, south of the country. The Chinese News Agency (Xinhua) confirmed the success of the satellites settling in their specified orbits.

The “Long March-12” missile represents a new generation of advanced missiles, as it relies on environmentally friendly fuel consisting of kerosene and liquid oxygen, and is characterized by a hull diameter of 3.8 meters, which allows the transport of larger payloads at a lower economic cost, and it is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the growing commercial launch market.

This launch constitutes a strategic step to strengthen the position of the “Wenchand” site in Hainan Province, as the first commercial space launch center in China, dedicated to serving private companies and fast-paced national projects.

Through this series of successive launches, China seeks to build a huge, global satellite Internet network – such as the “Guowang” or “G60 Starlink” constellation – to compete with Western networks such as the “Starlink” network of SpaceX, with the aim of providing high-speed communications coverage and integrated and independent Internet networks covering remote areas around the world.
