On Tuesday, the European Commission announced the allocation of 1.24 billion euros to support the defense industry sector in Ukraine, as part of the defense component of a huge European loan with a total value of 90 billion euros.
The Commission explained in an official statement that this funding will be directed exclusively to the production of drones and means of intercepting them, in addition to ammunition and missiles manufactured locally by Ukrainian companies.
In the same context, the European Union intends to pump an additional 28.3 billion euros to support Ukraine militarily during the year 2026, with new financial payments within the defense component of the loan to continue successively in the coming weeks.
It is noteworthy that the “Ukraine Support Loan” loan is divided into two parts: About 60 billion euros were allocated to meet defense needs, while 30 billion euros were allocated to support the Ukrainian budget, during the years 2026 and 2027.
