An early climate change... Father Khneisser warns: A harsh winter and exceptional snow awaits Lebanon! An early climate change... Father Khneisser warns: A harsh winter and exceptional snow awaits Lebanon!

In a remarkable climatic reading that breaks the usual pattern of early autumn, the specialist in weather conditions and climatology, Father Elie Khneisser, issued an early warning, stressing that the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea is experiencing an unprecedented weather inversion, paving the way for an early entry into an exceptional winter atmosphere that carries with it the features of a season of extreme cold and heavy rain and snow.

An extraordinary path: nature precedes its calendar

According to Father Khneisser’s estimates, the air system witnessed a remarkable gradual transformation from the end of June, through mid-September, until the threshold of October:

  • Early flow of goodness: Cold air masses and depressions began to flow successively into the region, accompanied by a rapid and sharp drop in temperature.
  • Flash time jump: The scene in Lebanon moved in the blink of an eye from a warm and stable summer to a cold and stormy autumn, as if nature had turned the pages of the calendar prematurely and quickly closed the autumn season.

Indicators of the coming winter: frost, deluge and promising snow

Khneisser believes that these early disturbances are not just passing fluctuations, but rather constitute advanced scientific indicators that determine the identity of the coming winter:

  • Extreme cold and torrential rain: The current movement of masses indicates a high probability of a very cold winter accompanied by successive and heavy rainstorms.
  • Excellent snow season: Current indicators hold promising signs of excellent and dense snow accumulations that are not limited to the tall peaks only, but are expected to reach medium and high mountains early.

This climate warning puts the concerned authorities and citizens before the necessity of early logistical preparation to face unusual frosts, at a time when the features of a winter are taking shape that may be among the harshest in recent years.
