Manchester City officially announced that it had filed a comprehensive appeal against the decision issued by the Independent Committee of the English Premier League, which convicted the club of committing widespread violations of financial rules, including 114 charges.
The club explained that the appeal file was submitted on Thursday evening, stressing that the decision issued against him contains fundamental errors affecting the legal, principled and factual aspects, and at the same time affirming his complete adherence to his innocence of all charges against him.
The independent committee concluded in its report that Manchester City resorted to using sham commercial contracts with the aim of inflating its revenues and reducing its costs by a value exceeding 900 million pounds sterling over the course of nearly a decade, in addition to convicting it of not cooperating with the investigation, which are accusations that the club continues to deny in its entirety.
With this step, the legal dispute enters a new phase that is considered one of the most prominent in the history of the English Premier League competition, provided that deciding on the fate of potential sanctions remains dependent on the course of the legal procedures and the results of the appeal submitted.
