The Al-Hazan crisis and the prevention of crossing ignite protests and close the roads of Al-Dinniyeh with trucks

The Lebanese Army reopened the Dinniyeh-Tripoli road at the Kfarhbo town junction, which is the main entrance to the Dinniyeh region, after it was blocked by a number of drivers and owners of trucks transporting goods and raw materials, in protest against security measures and restrictions that they considered to be hampering the movement of their work and the transportation of materials from the Jard Merbin area.

This protest movement came in rejection of the restrictions imposed on the sand and gravel transportation sector from the inventory line, as the protesters warned that the continuation of the crisis threatens the only source of livelihood for between 250 and 300 families who depend entirely on this sector.

The drivers explained that their suffering began about three months ago, after the security forces seized their trucks, despite being fully legal and registered, under the pretext of transporting materials from quarries and crushers that do not have official licenses from the state, denouncing their presence in a dilemma resulting from the absence of official regulatory solutions.

The protesters pointed out that the crisis was exacerbated by the intervention of local municipalities, which banned the passage of trucks on their roads under the pretext of the damage and potholes they caused to the infrastructure, forcing drivers to take side roads and detour between villages to reach their destinations.

Those affected warned of the seriousness of the timing of the crisis, noting that the current month represents their last opportunity to work and secure their livelihood before the arrival of the snow season, which causes complete paralysis and the cessation of work in the inventory area.

At the conclusion of their action, truck drivers and owners called on the relevant official authorities to intervene urgently to find radical and practical solutions that ensure the continuity of their work, coinciding with the success of the army units in reopening the vital road to traffic.
