The head of the Arab Tawhid Party, Wiam Wahhab, responded sharply to a campaign of criticism targeting him by websites and media professionals affiliated with the “Axis of Resistance,” against the backdrop of my position denouncing the plane incident and the attempt to endanger the lives of its passengers, stressing that targeting civilians represents a condemnation of its perpetrators and cannot be considered a heroic act.
In a post he wrote on the “X” platform, Wahhab addressed those media outlets by saying: “The donkey learns from one experience, and I believe that killing innocents in the flood was an experience that should teach you that killing civilians is a condemnation of you and not heroism,” thus recalling the events of the “flood” without specifically naming the media outlets or the people who were targeted by his criticism.
This debate comes in the midst of the ongoing interaction surrounding the circumstances of the Flydubai flight coming from Dubai on its way to Tel Aviv, which was forced to change its course to Tabuk Airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia following an emergency that broke out inside the cockpit. While Flydubai confirmed that a “verbal altercation” occurred between the plane’s crew and that it landed safely without any injuries among passengers, indicating that the motives and causes of the incident are still subject to investigation, Israeli officials indicated that there was an attempt to target the plane.
Wahhab had previously appreciated the role played by the Saudi authorities in containing the crisis, considering that the rapid action of the Kingdom and its agencies effectively contributed to saving the plane and protecting the region from extremely dangerous repercussions. He concluded his position at the time with the phrase: “Thank you, Saudi Arabia.”
