“Samsung” is considering launching its new phone, “Galaxy Z TriFold 2,” earlier than expected during the year 2027, in a move that reflects the acceleration of competition in the foldable phone market after “Apple” entered this sector with the “iPhone Duo.”
According to the “T3” website, previous reports indicated that “Samsung” is working on a new version of its foldable phone with three panels, with the possibility of launching it in 2027. But the most recent information indicates that the device may appear early that year, and not at the end of it as was thought.
The report links this move to Apple launching its first foldable phone, about 7 years after this type of device appeared on the market. With the entry of Apple, interest in foldable phones moved from a relatively limited scope to a broader and more attractive circle for consumers and companies.
“Samsung” had presented the first “Galaxy Z TriFold” in 2025, but it was issued in limited quantities and at a very high price, and then its production was quickly stopped. However, the stock quickly sold out due to limited production, keeping the idea in the company’s plans.
According to what “T3” reported from the leaker “Lanzuk” via “Naver”, the new phone will be thinner, lighter and more durable, with a new hinge, while the price is expected to remain at approximately the same level, i.e. $2,899 upon launch in the United States.
Although fixing the price may seem like good news, the phone will remain among the most expensive phones on the market, which puts Samsung in front of a clear challenge: proving that the tri-fold device offers real value, and not just an expensive formula between a phone and a tablet.
Details of the specifications are still unknown, as no conclusive information has emerged about the processor or internal hardware. But the report suggests that the differences will not be huge compared to the first version, with the exception of design, durability and weight improvements.
The announcement date is still open. “Samsung” displayed the first version of “Z TriFold” during the “APEC” summit in Korea, before the official announcement and display in the “Gangnam” store, between October and December.
As the company prepares to focus on the “Galaxy S27” series, which is expected to be launched in February 2027 with a new “Pro” category, “Samsung” may choose to reveal the “TriFold 2” in a separate event, so that it does not turn into a secondary detail within a crowded conference.
The report suggests that the marketing focus will begin on Korea first, then China and the United States, as they are the most suitable markets for a phone of this price and unconventional design.
