According to the “PCWorld” website, the September updates fixed a large number of security vulnerabilities in versions of “Windows”, but in return, they caused technical problems for some users, which prompted the company to issue emergency packages after only one week.
For Windows 11, Microsoft released the emergency update KB5129195, which addresses part of the audio problems, in addition to malfunctions related to Remote Desktop Services and some issues specific to Claude Cowork.
But this update doesn’t solve everything. The problems with the “AMD Radeon” graphics cards still exist, and the malfunctions that affected “File Explorer” and “File History” after Tuesday’s security updates have not yet been addressed.
“Microsoft” automatically releases the “KB5129195” update to “Windows 11” users as a mandatory cumulative update outside the usual schedule. It includes fixes from previous updates, in addition to addressing a new security vulnerability related to raising permissions. The installation process may take about 10 minutes, depending on the device, with a reboot required.
As for users of “Windows 10” versions 22H2 and 21H2, the company issued the emergency update “KB5129236”. This update addresses the issue of instability of Remote Desktop Services after installing the September Update, which could lead to RDP connections failing, login crashes, or servers stopping responding during Remote Desktop settings.
The update also fixed a problem in “Hyper-V”, which prevented some applications that use virtual machines managed via “HCS” from sharing host folders with virtual “Linux” systems via “Plan9”, as these folders were not appearing or were not accessible within the virtual environment.
The fixes also include an issue with some USB Audio Class 1.0 audio devices, which worked normally in dual audio mode, but failed when using multi-channel modes such as 8 channels or 3D audio.
However, the company notes that some other audio symptoms were not resolved in this emergency update, meaning affected users may have to wait for later packages.
Thus, Microsoft’s recent updates seem closer to an attempt to quickly contain the damage of a broad security update, rather than a final solution to all the faults. The message to users is clear: installing the update is necessary for security, but some problems, especially with AMD cards and some file and sound functions, are still open.
