100 thousand cars that cross it daily .. The expansion of the Jounieh Highway was launched and gift reveals the details

A daily nightmare that the Lebanese live on the Jounieh Highway that starts from Dubai to the tunnel of the River Al -Kalb and then to the Casino of Lebanon, some call it the “Darb al -Jaljalah” due to the terrifying traffic in this road at various times, as it is the only outlet that connects the north of the capital to its south and crosses it daily more than 100 thousand cars.

In 2005 it was always reported that it was decided to solve the problem of traffic congestion, and the testing decree was subsequently approved in the first stage by about 34 million dollars, and in 2019 the tenders with the financial files of the contractors were made and announced that the project will take two and a half years, but things were stopped because of The financial crisis and the collapse of the lira, and therefore this project did not see the light.
Today, the project was placed on a fierce fire, and the works were launched to expand the highway from the Al -Kalb River tunnel to the Casino Lebanon Bridge, specifically until Tabarja Junction and remove violations and violations, as the Jounieh municipality began removing all the infringements on the highway.
The Chairman of the Public Works, Energy and Water Committee, Deputy Sajie Attia, announced after a meeting of the committee with the Minister of General Ashhal and Transport, Fayez Rasamani, about a week ago that funding was secured by the ministry with a value of approximately 40 million dollars, for expansion and expansion at the Jounieh Highway.
In this context, Attia revealed in an interview with “Lebanon 24” that “the expansion of this highway, which is considered an essential artery for the Lebanese, is expected to start at the end of the current month.”
He pointed out that “a recent meeting between the Minister of Works and the Council of Development and ages came as a continuation of the previous meeting between the Parliamentary Public Public Works Committee and the Minister Rasmani in Al -Najma Square.”
Attia stressed that “the studies have ended and that the Council of Development and Reconstruction is being re -evaluated for maps and notebooks, and all violators will be informed on both sides of the highway to evacuate in preparation for the start of the implementation of the project, which is expected to last between 6 months to 3 years.”
Attia stressed that “the amount allocated to the project is a believer and is 47 million euros,” and pointed out that “there is an urgent need to implement the project as soon as possible,” stressing that “things are going correctly.”
And on the possibility of confronting obstacles in the removal of encroachments on the highway, Attia said that “the state must resolve its matter in the solution of the problem of continuity and methods of implementation.”
He continued: “The current highway will be expanded, which suffers from overlapping and encroachments that must be removed and expanded, as it was previously on the western and eastern leaks, provided that there is in the long term an expansion of the marine corniche to alleviate the crowd.”
Attia considered that “it is not acceptable to be the entrance to the capital with only persons, but there must be 5 lanes,” noting that “more than 100 thousand cars cross the northern entrance to the capital, according to the last census, so every pressure of the northern and Kesrouan regions is poured into this highway and there is no other port.”
He considered that “the expansion of the highway in its current form solves the problem of crowding in the short term and for several years, but the final solution in the long term is by setting up a highway that connects the maritime road from Tabarja to the ATCL is like an island, but this requires a special investment.”
And on the possibility that the works will lead to a traffic crowding during the implementation of the project, Attia pointed out that “these technical and technical matters need to be organized by the Council of Development and Reconstruction, and work may be done at night to alleviate the crowding and the suffering of citizens.”
He emphasized that “there is a shame by the Works Committee and the Ministry of Works to qualify the roads, where the maintenance of the Dahr al -Baydar road will be maintained and during the month of September, signals will be placed on all roads.”
So after many years, the Jounieh Highway expansion project has become just around the corner, it is true that it will take time, but it remains hope that it will solve a chronic problem for the Lebanese and reduce their daily benefits and that this project does not turn with the start of its implementation from a blessing to a new “curse”.
